The Global Doll Society was founded in 1982 by Carol Ann Stanton, Debbie Stanton  and Matthias Wanke  The purpose being to connect doll makers from across the world using the message

The Global Doll Society is run by the GDS Chapters. Each Chapter has its own programme of events, workshops and meetings. A member of the GDS can be an active member in their nearest Chapter or be a 'Member at Large'. All Chapter members recieve regular newsletters from their own Chapters and each Chapter recieves updates from all of the other Chapters.
There is a GDS Handbook which is available to all members through your chosen Chapter which outlines the rules and regulations of the GDS in depth.
